Track your whole teamHow the salary requirement works
A work permit needs a salary of at least 90% of the median salary in Sweden on the day the person applies. The median is 38 300 kr from 16 June 2026, so the minimum is 34 470 kr a month for applications from 16 June 2026. Some occupations and groups have a lower level, 75% of the median: 28 725 kr.
The EU Blue Card level
The EU Blue Card has its own threshold, 1.25 times the average gross salary in Sweden: 53 625 kr a month from 15 July 2026. Migrationsverket sets it every year.
More than the salary
The salary, insurance and other terms must also be at the level of the collective agreement or what is usual in the occupation, and the employer must have health, life, security (work injury) and occupational pension insurance in place. The terms have to hold for the whole permit, so a period below the level can lead to a refused extension.
